A young family has been rocked by a double heartache — both their kids have the same killer disease.

Two brave little brothers, Marc and Matthew Elliott from Enniskillen, Co Fermanagh, suffer from a genetic condition which has rendered them terminally ill.

Their heartbroken parents, Adel (26) and Damien, have been trying to cope with four-year-old Marc having adrenoleukodystrophy, an incurable illness which damages the brain and eventually kills.

However, their world has now been shattered after they were told that their eight-month-old son Matthew also has the disease. Read More here.

Rodney Edwards | Fermanagh TV: Kirsty’s New Heart

One of the first children in Fermanagh to receive a heart transplant, Lisnaskea schoolgirl Kirsty Clarke was delighted to return to her P7 classroom at the Moat Primary this week.

The 11-year-old, who received a warm welcome on her return to school on Tuesday, is a daughter of Alan and Sharon Clarke, who also have a younger daughter, Zara, a P4 pupil.

The development is a delightful one for both the young girl”s family and the school community as it comes three months after Kirsty underwent a heart transplant at the Children”s Heart Unit at Freeman Hospital in Newcastle Upon Tyne on March 13, this year. According to her parents she has made a fantastic recovery and is back to her old self.

Rodney Edwards | Fermanagh TV: Family firm wins £1.3m contract

A family run firm in County Fermanagh has won a lucrative electrical contract in Scotland worth £1.3m.

G R White & Son, which is based in Tempo, will install heating, water and ventilation at the headquarters of the Edinburgh tram system project.

The company hopes the deal will lead to the creation of 20 new jobs.
